6 Most Difficult Departments In Obafemi Awolowo University

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal government owned and operated Nigerian university. The university is in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, led by late chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, and was renamed Obafemi Awolowo University on 12 May 1987 in honour of Chief Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, whose brainchild the university was.

Below are the few research we have found out concerning the performance of some of the departments .

Bagging first class in OAU in some departments is like attempting to walk 100 metres on hot coals; it might not be impossible, but it very very difficult.

OAU is one of the few universities that rarely produce first class students and the reason for this is best known to the lecturers.

The main reason, perhaps, why it's difficult to get a first class in OAU is due to the extremely demanding environment that these lectures were also required to go through while they were students in this university.

This has resulted in making this culture of lecturers failing students turn into something like a spiral effect, causing a  self-sustaining process extending from one generation of students to another.

Our research based on the five most difficult department in OAU campus is not meant to scare any OAU aspirant but just to encourage the aspirants to fasten their belt in case they find theirselves in any of these  departments .
While specifically categorized these departments as the most difficult doesn't mean the other too are simple ,infact, none of the courses on OAU campus is easy because a department where the geniuses are also victim worth pondering about .

6. Chemistry:

Chemistry is in faculty of science where you will have to sharp your knife to cut a tree before you can graduate with second class .

An allumus(Geepee Booster )  of this department who graduated like last decade age recounts how he eventually graduated with first class .
He said, I used to read as if have never read before but not only by being a voracious reader but by God grace .
I came back after years of graduation to take my junior colleagues where majority of them graduated with second class upper ,I was nicknamed "Geepee Booster " after most of them saw the result .

The man has a well known tutorial lesson
in sabo( ile Ife ) where he is making million in a month ."Geepee Booster Institute"

h The OAU English department has not produced a first class graduate student in more than three decades. According to a student of the department, the last distinction graduate of the department is now an old senior lecturer in the department. And ever since, no student has been dimmed brilliant enough to merit the award.

5. Political Science

This department has also failed to produce any first class graduate in so many years. Findings from many student in the department reveal Political Science is not likely to produce a firstclass student in nearest future.

 4. Medicine and Surgery:

In Surgery department, it is good news that no student has been able to make first class for the past 28 years. This seems to be a department where making first class is seriously frowned at. Unfortunately, for the department, a student of the department, Aarinola Olaniyan recently broke the jinx and her fellow students could not but celebrate her victory over the department.

3.Department of Englsih.
Department of Englsih is the most difficult department in faculty of arts .
The OAU English department has not produced a first class graduate student in more than three decades. According to a student of the department, the last distinction graduate of the department is now a professor ( Professor Akande ) in the department. And ever since, no student has been dimmed brilliant enough to merit the award.
The irony in the department is that there is nothing you can write to satisfy the lecturer , I was surprised when I heard OAU  Allumnus who went for master degree in Havard University got 89 over 100 in literature but there is no way you can satisfy a lecturer in OAU, that is hazardous

2. Pharmacy.

Pharmacy is the second most difficult course on OAU campus ,their is no doubt about the difficulties pharmacy students are faceing  with the harsh policy laid down by the department.

One of the rules in the department in the department is that a student must not repeat a particular course twice or else it will lead to such student withdrawal from the department.

So many people have been withdrawn from the department when they got to 500level ,is the only department whereby repeat has become a norm and tradition

1. Geology:

If making first class in the study of the earth and its structure was a passport to heaven, no student studying Geology in OAU would make heaven. It is that certain. So certain that the lecturers usually prepare the minds of the students that they can not get first class no matter how brilliant they are. Geology is one of the most dreaded departments in this university and for decades, no student has been celebrated in the department.

Though, according to a student in the department of geology ,he said, the course itslef is not that difficult but the lecturers are the one terrorising the life of the students
