Dropping Out May Be A Prerequisite To Making It Big : See The List Of Bigwigs Who Made It While Dropping Out

     The intriguing story of how Bill Gates,who dropped out of school,went on to become one of the richest man in the world has been re-told countless number of times. Numerous other examples of celebrities who dropped out of school are scattered all over the internet. Some of them include;
    Katy Perry,who is now an iconic singer,did not even finish high school. A former Vice-president of the United States of America,also flunked out of Yale University. Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple(iPhone producer),dropped out of Oregon's Reed College after knew semester.

     Coming closer to home; beautiful and talented actress, Genevieve Nnaji,reportedly dropped out of the University of Lagos to go into the movie industry. Don jazzy, a music mogul and boss of the infamous Marvin dynasty,ditched his academic career at the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma in his first year. You probably know a few more.

      Checking out the business arena; one of the richest black woman in the world, according to Forbes, Folorunsho Alakija(worth $2.5 billion) stated exclusively that she never went to the University. It will interest you to know that she has been recently appointed the Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University. If that isn't succes, I don't know what else is.
      Doesn't all of these information make you wanna question the sense in killing yourself over a University degree,especially as it doesn't guarantee your success in life? It's no longer news that the number of Nigerian graduates trudging the streets in search of jobs is on the rise. This is disheartening, especially for Finalists in the Universities. The conventional Nigerian educational system doesn't necessarily give anyone an advantage in the labor market.
      Careful research will show that these people mentioned above didn't sit complacently but they found their passion  and what they were instinctively good at doing, thereby setting themselves on the path to greatness. The (educational)  system actually encourages complacency (by making us cram our lecturers' notes and 'pouring' it back to them in the tests) and leaves the average student mentally lazy. The onus is, therefore, on us to find out our passions and make them profitable.

     The 'cliched' admonishment by motivational speakers to find purpose could actually be the answer. Perhaps, it's time we   really sat down and examined ourselves. The mentality that,a University degree gives you a set future, no longer holds. You need the right kind of knowledge,one specific to your purpose.
     So, stop wasting time and get started writing that song or reading that book(course) or building that invention that will sit you among kings. It's not enough to grab that opportunity that comes knocking on your door, you have to go in search of the ones that you need. So do what you will and what you must, get an education but make sure it's  the right kind.

   FIND YOUR PASSION AND KNOW THYSELF
