For math: Practice math problems daily. Practice atleast 10 problems a day (as told by my Indian friend).
For Physics: Understand the theory, but the most important part is to visualize the problem. For example, if you are studying Lenz’s Law of electromagnetic induction, go watch Youtube videos about it and see it actually implemented in real life. In my opinion, forming a visual image of the principle is extremely important.
One of the prime differences I have noticed between Eastern and Western students in their view of science is that Eastern students believe in practice and effort to improve their math and science skills while Western students believe in IQ and innate abilities as an absolute determinant of their capabilities.
While IQ is no doubt important in these subjects, practice and effort are also equally important. Indeed an average IQ student can excel in science with more effort than a slightly above average student.
Also my advise is valid for high school and junior year college level education only
