University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University And Covenant University Lead In Nigeria Total Research Output

The University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Covenant university as at today leads Nigeria’s total research output(Elsevier).

The latest full score from Sci Val 2017 shows the University of Ibadan leads with 900 scholar output from 114 departments

While Obafemi Awolowo University Sci Val 2017 result shows the university trailing in an ‘uncomfortable’ lead with 550 research publications emanating from about 88 departments in the university.



Covenant University comes third and is the only private institution in top 10 with the Sci Val 2017 indicating 500 research publications emanating from 32 departments.

In global comparism Harvard university has 15,000 research publications in any given year and is the same size as UI and OAU. University of Capetown(same size with UI and OAU) also has 3,000 research publications.

Caltech a small sized university in the US has 3,000 research publications.

Nigerian universities are admonished to improve the quantity and quality of research to advance on world university rankings.
