Africa story should be told by Africans - Ayodele Jomiloju

Africa is a land filled with milk and honey, no doubt, however, as I delved into my inner self to put down my candid thoughts for this article, I went down to memory lane when one of my pen friend described Africa in his own knowledge, not exaggerating, I was sad, pained and a part of myself died at my friend's description of my home.

  With a privilege to have lived in three African countries, Benin republic, South Africa and my homeland, Nigeria, I compared the Africa I know with my friends Africa, then I thought, saying within, " No ! My Africa is blessed, beautiful, peaceful, filled with potentials ", not my friend's Africa he claimed to be filled with hungry people, corruption, lie and ghettos.

  In my first paragraph, I wrote that I delved into my inner self to out down my _candid_ thoughts, that's why I would say, my friends report is almost true. He hasn't been to this great continent, yet I'm afraid to say his report on Africa is almost true.

   Though the most blessed continent in the world, it's so obvious we also are the most robbed continent in the universe.
  Chief Obafemi Awolowo said, " When we (Africa) had contact with the white race, we (Africa) were 2000 years behind ", that was decades ago, today I ask, are we still 2000 years ago ?

    As the saying goes, the more sores are licked, the painful it becomes and hard to cure, truly, we have been robbed, molested and the black man is naked, however we need to urgently get clothed and our nakedness shouldn't be covered by no one else but ourselves.

  I once read a provoking article with the caption, Africa : Nonsense to Nonsense, the author had a belief system driving him or her, that was what triggered him to write what I read.
We also posses different belief system, you can either invest your hopes on the black nation or loose all hopes on the black nation. As for me, my hope is invested in Africa and I am ready to be one of the various individuals who are ready to change our story and tell the new story, sing a new song, a song of victory from Africans accompanied with joyful noise from a heart once stabbed however, healed and happy again.

   It's time we, Africans remind ourselves of our fundamental responsibility of ensuring a peaceful, sustainable and beautiful environment and society for the black nation, Africa.
   It's time we build a permanent solution, a framework secured by ideas and innovations from the black nation, Africa. 
   It's time we put an abrupt end to the continent uproar, flip - flopping government and excruciating pains faced by the black nation, Africa.

  All this can be done when Africans come together in unity and say in one accord, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

  Conclusively, remember out of sparks fire is ignited, let's come together, male and female ignite the world and place our continent foremost. Like a popular saying in my favorite T.V series, I say with confidence, in faith. FROM THE ASHES WE WILL RISE.
