It is difficult to approach attractive girls because you put pressure on yourself. You think you must do something special to make her interested in you. You may not even consider she might like you, just for you. You also worry that contacting her and failing will feel humiliating.
So how do you change that? Instead of thinking her as a GIRL, think of her as a person. Speak to her exactly the same as any other stranger you would like to make your friend. Don't try to be clever, funny or entertaining. Just be open, friendly and sincere.
Make eye contact, smile and say Hi. Then ask a sincere question about her or something she is wearing, carrying, or doing. Put your focus on making a friend, not getting a date. Keep the conversation focused on her by asking questions instead of making statements.
This chatting skill will improve tremendously with practice. A great place to practice is in line at any store where the clerk is a woman. It does not matter whether she is your age or not a person you would pursue. Your goal is not to get a date, just to gain practice chatting. Clerks are often bored so they appreciate a minute or two of pleasant conversation.
Next time you are in line, smile at the checker, make eye contact and ask an innocuous question like, "How is your day going?" If she gives a response that seems engaged, try to follow up her response. If she says her shift is almost over, ask what time she got in this morning, or say, "I bet its good to be going home." i.e., make a comment that builds on her response and gives the conversation further grounds to develop.
If you can make yourself the guy who chats easily with strangers, not only will the girls love you, but your fear of approaching the ones you find attractive will go away.
